Tower of Babble

Here and alone,
silence whispers from the walls,
“Fight this war
of a conquest lost and won.
Heed your sorrows
in the wisdom you might gain.
Fear tomorrow
for what yesterday brings.”

The visions
left to live with
bring shame
to self respect.
The truths are
here to deal with
tonight.

Far and away,
already lost inside ourselves.
Gone in a flash,
before I tried to disappear.

Lost and found;
Given away and played for keeps.
Tangled in roots,
my ambitions fast asleep.

The false witnesses
we have been
senses it’s own
sense of security.
Now that I am
watching it all
change tonight.
