The Odd Man Hypothesis

I bore so easily
In your nothing coated skin
Blending into a sea of faces
Aimlessly drifting away from me

You’re choking on your own self-absorption
Super-saturated in your superfluous ways
And I’m keeping my eyes closed
When you’re hiding in the light

Staring at your fiction
Through these holes
Broken down and battered
Through your walls

I’m searching for my second wind
In this earth scorched paradise
On the first day of creation
I was forced to leave behind
My still-framed ways
For a world in flux, still not my own
